What do you consider an old school car? I like to think up to 1985. I have always heard numerous people try to say there late 80's to early 90's cars are old school. I just dont agree with that. The whole style changed from materials used to make the car to bodylines. Maybe someone as young as myself could see a EF Civic as old school, but I just dont think it fits. Give me your opinions on this.

It doesn't fit because it isn't. With the mass numbers, I don't see it really becoming a true old school car in that meaning.

I do agree with the 1985 year being the "cut-off," as well as a huge portion of the old school crowd. And I love the way JCCS defines that if the car model was made BEFORE the 1985 year and the model carried over to AFTER that year, it would be grandfathered in. I've had/seen arguments made for late 80's cars being old school, but it's always been made by someone who owns that car and wants it to be in.

One basic "rule of thumb" poses that if your car is carbureted, then it's old school. Carbureted cars are a thing of the past whereas fuel injected still lives on presently. Hence one reason why the EF won't be considered a true OS car.

I completely agree QD. Someone wanted an Old School section on SF and thinks anything 89 or older. I dont really agree with that. I just looked up the rules for JCCS and I like it.

1989 would completely kill the OS scene.

I'm by far not the authoritative voice of the definition of the set, but I do agree with the people who are more voiced than I. Luckily, my thoughts match those of people who are more established. I shiver to think of anything in the '90s being OS, but a very few car models do qualify because of the longevity of their production run. There was a site based out of NC that swore up and down the 3000GT (and other early 90s cars) was OS. I just quit posting over there and now the site is gone.

3000GT...Old School...lolol, no way those go hand in hand.

I think I got the members cleared up now. I am glad those older organizations have the same beliefs as I do too.

Am I correct on this: A Mazda 323 chassis was changed in 85. A member has a 89 I believe. This is not old school to me.

Naw, his car is in. Since it started in 1985, it would be considered OS. I've tried many times to get him to come to meets, but he never would, lolol.

If you can put an antique tag on it....it's OS.

^^^ 1995 is barely old. When I think of old, I definitely don't think 90s.

I don't really consider 70's or 80's cars old school. 60's are old school to me, maybe it's because I remember most 80's model cars being first produced...

I would say old school would be 80 and older. I prefer Classics myself. lol Gotta love the lines of the 50's era cars.

I think around 95 was the transition from square to rounded bodies and obd2
And because it seems forever away since I was born in 91
