It was likely a TIA ( transient ischemic attack ) which is a preceptor to a future stroke.

My friend has those problems. Gets seizures and short term paralyzation in his face. Its sad man. Sometimes he will be talking completely normal and then suddenly his mouth drops open and he just drools and stutters. He was given some medication and it seems to help alot.

if he was in my group of friends...we'd take it seriously until he's straight, then when we know he's ok again, we'd bust his chops..but yea that is tough.
