As for the face being paralyzed, that's usually called bells palsy unless he received a diagnosis for having TIAs.

Im not exactly sure what he was diagnosed with. I should ask him. I know the pills he takes doesnt cure it but it has reduced the incidents dramatically.
I had a Bells Palsy episode when I was younger. Basically, your face goes completely paralyzed, your speech is slurred, and your face droops. It mimics the immediate signs of a stroke without the loss of function to one side of your body. The only thing affected is your face, where your nerve endings swell up to the point that they can't control anything anymore. I don't have it anymore but I have lasting effects from it where my speech occasionally is slurred and when I eat something thermally of chemically hot, my right nostril runs and my right eye waters.
