I am looking into becoming a firefighter. I know some on here are already in the career, so I was wondering if you could direct me on any open positions and/or advice on the hiring process. Thanks for your input.

ORLY?

Well, most counties are reaching the end of thier fiscal years at the end of the month. So expect alot of counties opening hiring.

Clayton for one just went under a hiring freeze about 3 months ago, but we just graduated a recruit class this past Friday.

I heard that Gwinnette County has a very long hiring process compared to most other counties. I am in Rockdale so Newton, Dekalb, Fulton, Clayton, Henry, Walton, and Gwinnette Counties are to my liking...and possibly Cobb.

1.Application
2. Basic Skills Test
3. Phyiscal Agility Test
4. Drug Test
5. Psychological Test
6. Polygraph Test
7. First Interview
8. Second Interview
9. Job Offer

Now that was 7-8 years ago when I first joined Clayton County, so it could be different county to county.

Just be truthful really, just like other job interview.

I saw your post on IA and depending on the County, most places will train you to get your EMT.

Clayton did for me and will probably send me to Paramedic school.
