The iconic Ford Taurus SHO is back! The original SHO used a high-revving 220-hp 3.0L V6 (later a 235-hp 3.4L V8) developed and built by Yamaha. The new SHO’s uses the soon-to-be venerable EcoBoost 3.5 twin turbo charged V6 direct injected engine that will be making 365 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 350 ft.-lb of torque at 3,500 rpm. That makes this version of Ford’s 3.5L EcoBoost V6 the most powerful one available with 10 more horsepower than its other applications.. *insert drool here* It will be mated to and AWD drivetain and will bolted to a 6 speed automatic with rev matching and it will reportedly hold the gears even as the tach is bouncing of the rev limiter! I never thought I’d say this but:
‘I want to wake up next to a man everyday’ (edit by Wooley)
Now people pray to whatever God you pray to that Ford will be smart and drop this drivetrain (if at all physically possible) into the Focus! PLEASE GOD! FOMOCO YOU OWE US ONE!
Ah yes, I have fond memories of my 1989 Ford SHO. What makes them fond is the surprised look on the faces of people I beat at stoplight racing. Who knew a family car had so much get up and go? This is the perfect car for fathers that have families and still want to feel like they have a sports car (at least that is what they will tell their friends).
BOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
Boo? why Boo?
Boo your face!
o0o0o0o0o!
Boo cause its a Taurus!! I don’t think I need say anymore……………….But I will a Ford Taurus? Just another
car for dorks to buy and thin they are the shit! If I wanted a Ford I would at least buy a Mazda so I could TRY to
disguise the fact that I enjoy the warm spoon of man named Tito.
IT LOOKS LIKE A MONDEO THOUGH!
Ah, the fond members of transmissions going out before 100,00 miles. Gotta love the CLI-Taurus.
members = memories LOL
one couldn’t make a joke out of that slip up at all…
🙂
Ahahaha I know… I set myself up for it bad 🙁
I may catch flack for this comment…
But I like the new Taurus’ look. An SHO version may be just what Ford needs to get people back to buying their emblems.
Ford must be doing something right, as they haven’t received a dime from the goverment yet. I say bring us the Focus ST
I think any vehicle made by an American automotive maker that stresses performance is a blessing. Did you guys see that GM’s performance division got shut down?
I think Ford is definitely capable of making some nice looking cars that perform well – they need to get the people working on their Euro division over here.
YES SOMEONE PLEASE BRING THE FOCUS RS AND/OR THE FIESTA ST OVER HERE!
STAT.
LIKE RIGHT NOW.
DO EET.
and someone drop that twin turbo v6 into the mustang and give it an IRS…
kthxbye.
IRS sucks for drifting and drag 😛
FORD = MAN BOOBS COVERED IN SUN TAN LOTION!!
VW=WOMAN BOOBS COVERED IN BABY OIL….
Def. agree with Evins – Euro division in US.
PS: Yousef, did you see me edit? 🙂
See now you are seeing things my way. God I long for those woman boobs covered in baby oil.
yes woo woo i saw your edit and said a silent curse for your heathen arse….
They make a performance Fiesta in Europe? Damn we are missing out.
I personally think Japan needs to send us more AWD cars. Like why the hell the Mazdaspeed Protege wasn’t AWD. It was turbo.
Americans get imported turd versions of good cars.
no we just get turds…
and look up the new Focus RS, Fiesta ST, and Mondeo…then you will get depressed.
or hell just watch any given season of Top Gear…
F**K it…i’m moving to England.
and British girls are hot…
and they’re accents makes me feel inside…
you know…
funny.
I watch Top Gear religously. I don’t go to church so I figure I need a weekly ritual. So Monday’s at 8, my eyes are glued to BBC America.
I can name plenty of cars that I would love to see here from Japan and Europe – they get all the sporty models and enthusiast driven cars! Unfortuantely, that sort of thing just doesn’t seem to sell here? I don’t know why that is, I haven’t seen the figures, but Japan tried very hard in the early-mid ’90s to give us quality Japanese sports cars, and all of them failed at producing sales. Is it possible its going to happen now, too? We’re already planning to kiss the S2000 goodbye! Mixed with the busted economy, we may be hard pressed to find new, fun cars to drive in the coming years.
Subaru and Mitsubishi seem to be doing well, and maybe thats because their cars are very practical, yet sporty. Sort of like the classic muscle car – big, roomy, four doors, comfortable enough for the family, but quick enough to give Dad a thrill on the drive home when he lays into the gas. Also, the fact that they offer a sporty model in smaller numbers, but supplement it with a base model (slower, more affordable, and still practical) that makes up the bread and butter of the sales, probably helps keep the Evo and the Impreza alive.
So, with that being sad, I think a sporty, four door, AWD Taurus may do well. It kind of goes along with that recipe.
