With it’s first year come and gone, the only thing that could have been better about Final Bout was the weather. Day 1 saw some on and off rain but that didn’t stop the teams from all over North America from getting out on the track and doing what they all came to the middle of nowhere Wisconsin to do: drift.

A wall was constructed through one of the turns on the USA International Raceway track and the bumpers of these machines became well acquainted with it swiftly and brutally. Throughout the weekend, a pile of broken taillights, bumpers and other miscellaneous parts could be found tossed to the side after they were forcefully removed by a wall or sometimes by another car.

Quite the variety of cars could be found all around the pit area; from the expected 240sx’s and Miatas to trucks, AE86 Corollas and some even older school Corollas, it was a better sight than most car shows I’ve been to!

The crowd at Final Bout was the biggest I’ve seen at any drift event I’ve been too. From bumper grazing to full on smashing into a wall, the crowd got into the action just as much as the drivers did. They weren’t afraid to yell and cheer for some spectacular driving or get rowdy when taillights exploded upon impact with walls.

All the way from Canada, this Miata had a rough day after this little meeting with the wall. It looks much worse than it actually was because the car was up and running the next day for some more driving.

If you couldn’t tell already, Final Bout is not an event to miss. As long as it comes back for a 2nd year, make sure to find your way to Wisconsin for one of the most fun weekend of friends, cars, and some of the best drifting you’ll see! There was an actual competition portion of the weekend which most seemed to overlook due to the pure fun that was had. 3rd place was taken by the Risky Devils, 2nd place was given to ShaDynasty, and 1st place went to the obvious choice if you saw the way they drove flawlessly all weekend, High Fade!
