After a couple of years of thinking about one of these, I finally went out and purchased a used 2007 Honda Ruckus scooter yesterday. I recently moved into the heart of downtown Atlanta, and with pretty much everything being less than 3 or 4 miles away, I finally decided it would actually be a somewhat practical purchase. It’s by no means a speed demon in stock form (topped it out at around 45mph going down a big hill on my innagural test ride yesterday), but it’s insanely fun for what it is. In traditional S3 form, we have quite a handfull of plans for it in the near future, and are looking for any companies to help out however you can. We’re looking to evntually replace handlebars, add underseat LED tail lights, stretch the frame, do a front disc brake conversion, swap in a 150cc GY6 motor, and probably a ton of other things that I can’t even think of right now (see some of the pics below for some of our inspiration). Hopefully we’ll start modding this thing soon so check back often as we’ll be sure to cover any installs on our blog.
Hopefully ours won’t be too far off from something like this before too long…
too cool, man…lookin’ forward to updates. I’ve been thinkin’ a lot about ridin’ on 2 wheels, myself.
Its even got a set of leadsleds on it! Haha
I love the Ruckus.
YAY!!!!!
Actually when I jokingly said leadsleds I was talking about the one you want it to look like… those are dope!
speed, sound, and scooters.
i’d love to get a ruckus when i move to ATL (woot woot Luckie St.) good buy i say
where in downtown atl?
let me know if you need any fab work…piedmont by civic center, word.
I’m over in Grant Park (right by Turner Field/the zoo). I might take you up on that sometime too, could be a huge help! Just got a R6 taillight in that’ll take a bit of frame cutting/grinding to install, I might holler if my small tool selection doesn’t do the job.
These things are pretty badass when modded. I have a friend with a Ruckus; he’s got a cam, Yoshimura exhaust, ignition box, variator, and a few other things. It will only run 50mph, but up until then it’s bad ass and will get over 100mpg to boot.
Get a gy6 motor, With out machining punch it ot 170cc, or get a 180cc kit. Variator clutch, 30mm carb, No rev CDI, coil plug, Iridium spark plug, 4 valve head, cam, and intake and exhaust. full size gy6 scoots have been known to get up to 65 plus MPH, no reason a lighter weight Rukus cant.
