If you want a pampering, luxurious, tech-forward driving experience, the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus should be on your list. BUT… it’s made in China. Maybe you care about that, maybe you don’t. But historically when you think “Lincoln” you tend to think premium American luxury car. That’s certainly what Lincoln would like you to think. But that’s not the case here.
And once you know the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus was made for the Chinese market…
It starts to make sense, and you can understand why it is the way it is. Like I said, the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus is very tech-forward and sleekly-styled. It’s a Chinese-market vehicle that represents American opulence. Almost like a concept car come to reality.
The landscaped, pillar-to-pillar panoramic screen…
Is the highlight of the interior. It’s very impressive, and I’m not even normally impressed by that kind of stuff lol.
Seating is luxurious & pillow-plush…
Like a modern interpretation of an old-school Continental or Town Car. The interior of the 2024 Nautilus is so lavish, you almost expect to see an ashtray & some Cognac lol. There is no ashtray (or Cognac) for the record. However get this: The AC/heat vents in the tech-centric Nautilus are controlled electronically from the center screen. That’s right, fly first-class with no physical AC-vent adjustments… just the swipe of a finger. Additionally, there are 3 fragrance options that can be lightly dispersed through the cabin… to calm your mood as you crash the Nautilus trying to adjust the AC-vents.
The squared-off steering wheel in the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus is initially wonky…
But you soon adapt. And – it allows you to view the entire panoramic display without interruption. The 2024 Lincoln Nautilus has some neat trick lighting effects. And I was surprisingly delighted with the auto hi-beams, which progressively dial-up the brightness over the span of about 1-second… rather than go instant full-blast. It adds to the gracefulness of the driving experience. I will say, Lincoln did an outstanding job making the cockpit of the new Nautilus feel like a peaceful retreat. Here’s the only problem…
The 2024 Nautilus is not that great of ‘a car’ though…
Infotainment, lighting, & interior – all that stuff is great. But on the mechanical side, the brakes are inadequate, or at least inconsistent. The suspension is soft; it feels especially soft in the rear. And the 2-liter hybrid engine is far from commanding. Back to the Made-in-China thing: The 2-liter hybrid is not seen, or at least not common in America. To my knowledge, it’s not shared with any other Fords stateside (yet). So have fun with that. I’m sensing scarcity & obsolescence & unreassuring build quality. Maybe the engine will gain popularity in America over the coming years. Overall though, between the overabundance of tech & electronics, and the obscure/foreign hybrid engine, I personally don’t predict a long, trouble-free lifespan with the new Lincoln Nautilus. But hey – if you don’t care about that stuff & you just want a plush ride that will undoubtedly impress your friends, I encourage you to experience the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus. It’s something to see.
As a loyal Ford and Lincoln owner, I can honestly say, Ford motor Company is dead to me. Made in China is inevitable for some parts here and there, but the entire car? …traitors. You should be ashamed. They won’t miss me alone, but good heavens people… know your audience. We buy American because we’re proud to be American… and many of your most loyal will also see that as a betrayal. Be careful this doesn’t become your “Bud Light” moment. There will be many more like me who are done with Ford. It may be a painful lesson. So go ahead and enjoy your flashy dashboard, underpowered engine and poor build quality, I’ll be able to sleep at night knowing I’m not aiding the enemy when buying a new car from Ford. Such a shame… I’ve bought Ford products since I was 16 years old – it’s hard to drive off a loyal 34-year customer, but well done, Ford… you’ve done just that – mission accomplished.
Made in China because the plant in the USA whete it was supposed to be built was built for electric cars under intense pressure from the Burden Administration. Now that Lincoln understands there is a low demand for e-vehicles it will be switched back to manufacture in Ohio by 2027.
Sadly the unions did this to themselves. Unrealistic contracts pushes Ford abroad. Otherwise consumers ultimately pay for the union mark-up.
