Check out this story from MAZDA Australia. Like many countries, Australia continues to tighten their emissions regulations. And starting January 1st 2025, they’re tightening them even more… continuing to put a boa-constrictor squeeze on carmakers (and ultimately consumers). Well, Mazda in Australia basically had enough & said – tighten them all you want… fine us… & fuck off. We’re gonna keep building the cars that our customers want. *They didn’t say fuck off, that’s me translating. But that’s basically the gist through corporate un-filtering.

Way to go MAZDA!

It takes a lot of guts to speak freely & frankly these days. And considering how the competitors who’ve put their customers LAST are failing (read about Stellantis & VW hardships)… it’s a smart move. And an honest one! Let’s play a game called What’s more ‘sustainable’: 1) A Mazda Miata for 30k… or 2) an electric SUV for 90k that puts craters in the earth to make a battery that weighs as much as the entire Mazda Miata. Also – which one do you think will last longer? Working towards lower emissions vehicles is the obvious goal… but doing it delusionally & recklessly is not how we achieve it. Yet these ever-tightening emissions regulations are becoming impossible to meet with an internal combustion engine. And make no mistake, that’s by political design. The squeeze will not stop until we collectively put a stop to it & say ‘enough is enough’. Thank you Mazda.
