Disclaimer:  I’m going to sound like BMW just paid off my house, wants to put my kid through college all while giving me a backrub.  They aren’t and I wish they would….but that is beside the pointThis car is brilliant.

Okay I’ll admit it.  I’m a sucker for a big fast comfortable car.  I want to be coddled and when the opportunity arises I want a car to accelerate and handle rabid cheetah.  The 2018 BMW M550i is that car.  In comfort mode it’s breathtakingly comfortable.  It wafts and glides down the road like everything is made out of marshmallows.  Then after you lose yourself to the silence you turn on the stereo and bloody effing hell.  It’s magnificent. Now I’m not an audiophile and it maybe because the Bowers and Wilkins tweeters are back-lit but I swear I can hear the clothing ruffling of the person singing.  It’s that good.

Now one of the best cars I have ever reviewed/driven was the 2017 Audi S8 Plus.  It was the first car I have driven that had equally seduce me with luxury and simultaneously hurl me into the moon.  The 2018 BMW M550i is close but at almost $50,000 less it’s a relative bargain!  The 4.4 liter twin turbo’d V8 from the BMW needs be taken out and mounted on my mantle.  I love it.  Screw it.  I’m IN love with it.  It’s so smooth you think the internals were lubricated with ghee.  It revs like an electric drill and it’s just a wall of noise and torque at any given speed.  I want to cuddle up to this car at night and rock it to sleep while cooing in its radiator grille.
