The Lexus GS is a very nice car through & through… but is that enough in 2017?

That’s what I can’t figure out.

And I just can’t drive the new Lexus GS… without thinking about its lineage. The original concept behind the GS-line, was an edgy sport sedan with some clear risk-taking & trendsetting design elements.

Something for the confident/savvy professional in their mid-40s, who wasn’t scared to try a legitimate BMW/Benz alternative.

Today, we can certainly see that attitude in the GS-F (a seriously awesome car), but where does that leave the standard GS… with the same ol’ N/A V6?

See – somewhere after the 2nd generation, the GS began to relax & get comfortable with its ranking. It kind of grew older with its original buyer, instead of turning those buyers over to the LS. Now – the GS is the 55+, more conservative option… with a conservative engine. And that’s fine. But it’s left a void in the Lexus lineup. Meaning – which Lexus does the 45-year-old buy in 2018… if they want a bold vehicle?
