Although we loved having the Whiteline lowering springs on our Civic Type-R, we’ve decided to take it one step further and move up to a set of KW Suspensions V3 Coilovers in order to further dial-in the suspension system and bring the car to peak track day performance. The KW Suspensions V3 Coilovers system is fresh to the CTR market, so we are excited to really put them to the test and see the benefits that it brings to our car. Since the Type-R comes stock with a great adjustable suspension setup, benefits from moving to a highly engineered coilover system take incredible engineering. KW Suspensions V3 Coilovers
The KW Variant 3 gives you the possibility of a continuous lowering of 10 to 30 mm at the drive axle. At the rear axle, a lowering in the range of 10 to 30 mm can be carried out. In addition to an approved lowering, the stainless steel suspension kit allows you to adjust the damping forces independently in rebound (16 clicks) and compression damping (12 clicks). The damping characteristics that was determined after numerous driving tests on the motorway, country roads and on the KW 7-post rig, significantly improve the performance of the Type R.
Drivers with a KW coilover suspension kit installed benefit from our sustainable technology transfer from motorsport to the road. Compared to the other Civic models, the differences to the new top model are enormous. For example, the Honda features, a stiffer body and double-axle front wheel suspension with two axle journals. These are also used in the Astra OPC, Focus R.S. or Mégane R.S.. This minimizes the drive influences on the steering. Axle stubs and strut are separated at this axle construction in order to keep the ‘torque steer’ low at high-torque front wheel drive vehicles. With our Variant 3 coilover suspension, the Type R becomes an even more agile sports car.
