lug nuts

Just wanted to give a quick update on the stock Hyundai Elantra N that has California’s panties in a wad. Yes – unfortunately a California police officer is still tucked-up in the fetal position after coming in contact with the bone stock exhaust on a 4-cylinder Hyundai Elantra N.

A few months ago, officer Langsdon Canright pulled-over the Hyundai Elantra N for “backfiring & making noise”. Shockingly: The exhaust was bone stock. The Elantra N was simply in its factory-equipped N Mode, which is Hyundai’s sport/track mode that sharpens-up the driving experience. Upon hearing that information, officer Canright passively-aggressively escalated the situation to cringe levels & began to fiercely uphold the law. Or at least… his version of it. You can watch the dash cam footage here.

Hyundai has been helping to fight this case on their customer’s behalf…

Hyundai picked the car up to have it tested at the Hyundai American Technical Center, while supplying the customer with a California-cooperative hybrid in the interim. My guess is that Hyundai’s professional engineers will professionally prove that the Elantra N meets standards. And then Hyundai’s legal department will send a legal document to California essentially saying, “Guys what in the actual f*ck is your problem over there… your honor.” Of course California will probably try & stick to their guns… they’re fluffy nerf guns. And continue to valiantly protect the community from the trauma of neanderthal stock Hyundais in N Mode. In closing, here’s a completely unrelated clip from the 1993 film, Demolition Man, which is based around a crazy scenario where California goes so far off the rails, that by 2032 caffeine & cursing is illegal.
