I’m all about modding Hondas & Acuras to the moon – there’s arguably no car/brand that more fun to modify. But I also love these carefully-crafted Honda tribute builds. The kind of examples that truly define & capture the golden-era of the Honda aftermarket. This 1992 Acura Integra belongs to Zach Minch now. But before Zach picked up the torch, this DA Integra was a King Motorsports legend!

King Motorsports & this DA Integra build…
Here’s a quick history on this car. It started life as your typical Integra of the 90s. And it spent its first couple decades running-up over 200,000 miles before it fell into the hands of Scott Zellner & the team at King Motorsports. Scott saw past the mileage, and set out to build a King Motorsports street car using the knowledge (and spare parts) from their championship-winning Integra Type R Grand Am Cup race car! Game on!

A Decade of Development…
King Motorsports spent over ten years with this Acura Integra. Every part was strategically chosen, fabricated, and dyno-tested for max performance. The powertrain is a race-bred LS VTEC. It’s running the factory LS block – beefed-up with Crower Maxi-Light connecting rods & Wiseco pistons. The result is a high-revving, high-compression engine (12.5:1). King Motorsports ported & polished cylinder head. And after extensive testing, they landed on the combination of a Skunk2 Pro-3 intake cam & Pro-2 exhaust cam. Running E85, this DA Integra makes 238whp on the King Motorsports dyno. It’s all managed by a Hondata S300 ECU.

Chassis & Handling: Where this DA Integra shines…
This DA Integra is essentially a Grand Am Cup hand-me-down. Meaning, it’s been graced with a lot of parts from the King Motorsports championship-winning Integra Type-R race car. The suspension was fully rebuilt with Type-R control arms & fresh bushings. And that’s been paired with custom re-valved Bilstein shocks and H&R Sport springs. A Mugen 26mm rear sway bar sits alongside a necessary ASR rear subframe brace to stiffen the chassis & reduce understeer. By the way, if you’re looking for Mugen parts, King Motorsports is the sole authorized Mugen Power dealer in North America. King removed the Acura Integra’s original power steering, and installed a rebuilt Honda CRX manual steering rack with custom mounts. Finally, this Integra’s superior stopping-power comes from Type-R brakes, a Type-R master cylinder, and stainless steel lines. Step back with a wider lens, and perhaps you’ll see…

This is one of the purest examples of a DA Integra…
And Zach Minch is honored to continue its journey. During Zach’s years of ownership, he tastefully added a genuine Mugen front bumper, Cibie fogs, and VIS sides & rear (it’s not the easiest to find those pieces in original Mugen). Joel Zabel did a full paint respray, and Zach was able to learn a lot working by his side. Huge respect to Scott, the entire King Motorsports crew (past & present), and everyone who’s ever invested into this golden-era Integra & been a part of its survival story.
