What you’re looking at – is all 3 generations of the Honda CRX photographed together. And more significantly – each CRX pictured here, is equipped with its respective Mugen body kit.

When the Honda CRX debuted, Mugen released a kit for the car called the CRX PRO. Then in 1988 with the introduction of the 2nd-generation CRX, Mugen followed with their iconic CRX PRO.2 kit. For the 3rd generation, what we call the Honda Del Sol in the United States, was sold in Japan as the Honda CRX Del Sol. And you guessed it, Mugen followed the CRX Del Sol’s release with their fresh PRO.3 kit. What an exciting era for Honda & their fanbase! Think about it – all three of these CRX generations dropped within 6 years of each other.

Today, finding an authentic Mugen kit for any generation CRX is almost impossible…

And that’s why this photoshoot is so special. To get all three Honda CRX generations together, all with authentic Mugen PRO kits… is an ultra-rare circumstance. 30-years ago – no one would have put anything about ‘the Honda CRX’, and ‘rare’ in the same sentence. Yet here we are – common has become collectible. And that’s largely because time has validated the pedigree of these cars. I guess the lesson is: Pause from time to time, and soak up the moment you’re in. Because sometimes it’s hard to see you’re right in the middle of the good ol’ days… until you look back.

Quick story on this shoot: After finishing my Mugen PRO.3 CRX Del Sol build, I wanted to get together with a few friends & capture all 3 generations of the Mugen CRX PRO.series together in the same spot. After making some quick arrangements with everyone’s schedule, we were able to link up with Ted 7 @iamted7 for an amazing once in a lifetime photoshoot. We were joined by a few other friends in the community including Kenji Sumino @greddykenji who came out to take pics & check out the cars. Just a few Honda-heads hanging out… enjoying the hobby we all love on a Sunday morning after cars and coffee.
