“That’s one small step for man, and one giant leap for mankind”? Volkswagen is removing the incredibly stupid & distracting haptic buttons from their steering wheels, and going back to actual real buttons. It’s a small victory, but hey it’s a step in the right direction.

The Neil Armstrong quote seemed fitting…

Because I’m pretty sure we sent him to the moon with far less tech than is in a MK8 GTI. Begging the question: Why? Why is there so much pointless shit in a driver’s car that’s supposed to be engaging > infuriating. Maybe if we’d stop the nonsense… MK8 GTIs wouldn’t have to be 45k. That would be neat.

Maybe Volkswagen is starting to realize…

That just because they can… doesn’t mean they should. Europe was always known for making the best driver’s cars. Cars that were best in sync with their driver. I know there aren’t a whole lot of actual driver’s left in the world… just mostly commuters. And a certain amount of driver-centric tech is fine. But European car manufacturers need to be very strategic & careful not to lose what set them apart…
