It’s very rare nowadays that you encounter a car that just does everything right.  There is always some prevailing flaw that will stick out during your time that just annoys the crap out of you.  Well this is not the case with the 2016 Acura RDX.  It’s quick, nimble, roomy, good looking and efficient.  It’s everything you need  in a modern day luxury crossover.

It’s powered by their ubiquitous 3.5 liter V6 making 279 horsepower and 252 ft/lbs of torque.  It will get you from 0-60 in 6.2 seconds and you’ll cross the ¼ at 14.5 seconds and 96 mph.  The motor has a sonorous induction growl that will make your inner most child smile while being buttery smooth all the way to redline. One of the best parts of the RDX is the lack of NVH(Noise Vibration Harshness).  Acura did a tremendous job at filtering out road noise in the RDX but at the same time not making it coma inducing to drive.

The cabin is put together extremely well and while we are not fond of the Acura/Honda Infotainment rig, we are ecstatic there is actual physical hard buttons for your most used options.  Like seat heaters, audio and etc.  Android Auto/Apple CarPlay is not out on this model yet but we are crossing our fingers it comes out soon to the entire range.  For reasons why click here.

If you compare specs, the RDX’s wheelbase is only 0.6 inches off compared to the original and larger MDX.  Acura did an amazing job keeping the shape of the RDX small while at the same time increasing interior room.    And for 2016 Acura updated the front and rear facias sporting the new mandatory bejeweled LED headlights and taillights.

Unfortunately it is still sporting the loathsome Acura Beak but this is probably the only application where you don’t slap yourself when you see it.

So for starting at $35,000 (ours was loaded at $41,000) you can get yourself into this or the NX we reviewed earlier in the year.  The NX has a better weighted steering but the RDX delivers on interior room, V6 power, and less divisive styling.  If you’re looking for a luxury crossover, your first stop needs to be at your local Acura dealership.
