What happens when the U.S. goes nearly a decade without an affordable, factory turbo, Japanese sports car? Or better yet, what happens when a relatively affordable, factory turbo, Japanese sports car is offered in the U.S. after nearly a decade? Especially when it has rally heritage? You end up with a bunch of ‘purist’ enthusiasts. The same thing goes down in the Honda world with the Type Rs… there is a definite race pedigree. Plus – the cars are somewhat a rarity, and as a result, you often get owners who don’t go too ‘personal’ with the car. ….The guys who don’t want to degrade the integrity of the car, or compromise the car’s intended purpose from the manufacturer. And look – that is totally understandable… and it’s respectable. But the other side of that coin is – things tend to look a little monotonous in the aftermarket. Dare I say – unexciting. You don’t get many risk takers…
